Investigation regarding rationalization of bridge surface structure for long and large bridge

Research overview:
It is necessary to decrease a dead load of the whole architecture for decreasing a building cost of a bridge, also it is necessary to examine a method to make a pavement of the bridge surface thinner for solving a problem such as a construction limit in the upper surface thickness of the bridge to cope with a running of 25-ton truck. An one-layer pavement using SMA as technique to make the pavement thin with keeping the usual function of the pavement was picked up, and such technique was compared in material properties with usual mixtures such as a goose asphalt and a condensed grain asphalt mixture and the like. As a result, we could verify the effectiveness of SMA as bridge surface pavement technique. Through an indoor test, it could be understood that SMA had both properties specific to the condensed grain asphalt mixture and to the goose asphalt when comparing all properties. It could be also understood that SMA could be used as a material for thin-layer pavement.
