Research overview:
To cooperate a joint experiment by the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan-Communications Research Laboratory-NTT, connection was made to the Mitaka campus, National Astronomical Observatory of Japan, apan Aerospace Exploration Agency, Usuda Deep Space Center, and a 34 m-antenna in Kashima Space Research Center, through large capacity (2 Gbps) optical fiber nets and; a real time experiment on VLBI was conducted. The result finds success in materializing the real time VLBI at the 1Gbps band between a 64 m-antenna and the 34 m-antenna in Kashima. This is a technique useful for observation at 1 Gbps aiming at the next generation space VLBI system. In addition, the use of the optical lines applied to semi -real time correlation processing for the VLBI observation for deciding a satellite orbit.
