Research overview:
Research on polar region electrodynamics was carried out using the EISCAT Europe non-interference scattering radar and the AKEBONO satellite. In 1997, Simultaneous observation with EISCAT and AKEBONO was conducted to survey plasma fall particles, plasma motion, and three-dimensional electric current at the neighborhood of the night polar cap boundary. In February 1998, simultaneous observation with AKABONO and GEOTAIL was conducted twice to survey electrodynamics near the daytime cusp. In January 1998, simultaneous observation with AKEBONO and EISCAT was carried out over one week to survey the patch generation process of the polar cap. In July 1997, simultaneous observation with AKEBONO and EISCAP was carried out to survey the ion discharge phenomenon frequently observed near the polar cap boundary.
