Research overview:
Investigation is achieved for physical and biological environment in the sea region at front of the Shiga Atomic Power Station, and investigation is achieved for the influence of intake and discharge water by power station to the sea regional environment. Investigation of influence of warm discharge water, is started from 1990 by the Ishikawa Prefecture and enterprise (Hokuriku Electric Power Co.) before start of operation of the Shiga Atomic Power Station. The Power Station started trial operation from November 2, 1992, and business operation from July 30, 1993. The investigation items, depending on the basic plan of investigation on warm discharge water of the Shiga Atomic Power Station, are water temperature, current states, water quality, sea bottom quality, tidal zone livings, seaweed, sea bottom livings, fish eggs, young fish, and plankton.
