Research overview:
Trees show various physiological characteristics while they grow with being adapted to various location conditions. Adaptability to moisture is thought to be an important factor in considering productivity. Large part of forests in our country exists in mountainous regions and the forest grows not on flat lands but on inclined land having a slope. Moisture environment is diversified owing to the inclination of the land. The upper portion of the inclined land is dry but the lower portion is wetter. Moisture environment in soil differs owing to the difference in the angle of inclination. We set several numbers of lysimeters on the slope for clarifying physiological characteristics of trees growing on the slope.
