Establishment of labor-saving, stable, large scale production technology of paddy rice in cold climate area

Research overview:
Surface drainage and one-pipe irrigation and drainage technologies are developed. Quantitative evaluation and monitoring techniques of wide area information (degree of delayed drainage, rice straw spraying, fall-plowing) are established using remote sensing, to contribute to the improvement of drainage-permeability and land-resistance, and to stable, labor-saving, and low cost production of paddy rice. 1) Grasp of present state of water and field control in cold area paddy, and countermeasures, a) Grasp of present state of weakening of levee in cold area paddy and countermeasures, 2) Evaluation of wide area surface drainage using satellite remote sensing, a) Technique to grasp delayed drainage and rice-straw coverage using optical sensor, b) Technique to grasp plowing state using micro wave sensor, 3) Comprehensive examination of systematized improvement of surface drainage in large scale paddy, a) Preparation of surface drainage evaluation map, b) Examination of surface drainage improvement with plow sole building layer such as sand, c) Examination of surface drainage improvement utilizing treading marks made by operating machines for paddy control, d) Technique for efficient water utilization in large scale fields by the introduction of one piping system for both drainage and irrigation.
