A study is performed on the nuclear safety of nuclear reactors and nuclear fuel facilities by using Kyoto University Critical Assembly (KUCA). For the nuclear criticality safety, experiments are carried out to develop methods of subcriticality measurements and subcriticality monitors, and to measure the interference effect of reactivity among multiple fuel units and the reactivity effect of non-uniformly distributed fuel. For the stability of nuclear reactors, experiments are performed to measure the nuclear coupling reactivity and the neutron flux tilt for the purpose to clarify the mechanism of the regional oscillation of reactor.
