Study on tele-robotics and haptic interface

Research overview:
The technique to control by remote control from the ground various kinds of service robot in space is investigated. In 2001, the haptic interface, which is an indispensable man-machine interface for remote control, has been investigated. We have already designed and developed independently the small type haptic interface using the parallel mechanism and increase in the rigidity of this haptic interface has been left as a problem. In 2001, we have realized the haptic interface with an improved rigidity by introducing the model to estimate the rigidity and adjusting the mechanism parameters. Now the control system of this haptic interface is under designing and preparation and after finishing, this haptic interface is to be applied to the remote control of the bi-arm cooperation robot to perform truss construction experiment.
