Stilbenes accumulated in the process of biodegradation of bisphenol A

Research overview:
Bisphenol A is readily discomposed but it produces stilbene in its degradation process. This stilbene has a similar structure as a synthetic female hormone, diethyl stilbestrol. Thus, when stilbene was massively accumulated in the degradation process of bisphenol A, the phenomenon that its binding ability to estrogen receptor was elevated than that of original bisphenol A was observed. However this stilbene is unstable and thus no abundant accumulation of the stilbene appears to be in nature.
