Needs for data on atoms and molecules radiated from atmospheric molecules of Jupiter-type planets and comets

Research overview:
Recent progress of high resolution spectrometric observation by the use of ground telescopes and planetary probes makes it possible to observe radiation from atmospheric molecules of planets and commets at various wavelength (radio wave, infrared-, visible-, and ultraviolet- region). These observations allow us to understand not only atmospheric composition and dynamics, but also origin and evolution of planetary systems. For these researches, basic information on the physical properties of relevant molecules and atomic process concerning emission of electromagnetic wave is indispensable in the process of analyzing observed data. In this connection, we are engaged in examining present state of observation, and preparing a comprehensive report on atomic and molecular processes concerning emission of radiowave. This study is conducted as one of the research-exchanges between Japan and Korea.
