Fundamental study on the far-infrared array detector

Research overview:
This study deals with developing a far-infrared array detector for use with spacecraft. A one-dimensional Ge:Ga8 element array was developed, and fundamental experiment and detail design were conducted to verify the concept of a Ge:Ga2 element. The fabrication feasibility of the intended detector was verified. A 4x8 element array, the same as the actual detector, was fabricated, cooled to a very low temperature, and tested for sensitivity, noise, efficiency, view field, stroke, and others. The intended performance was verified.
