Research overview:
Brackish Lake Obuchi in Rokkasho Village, Aomori Prefecture is surrounded by nuclear fuel cycle facilities. In this study, we investigated through both field and laboratory studies the effect on the behavior of radionuclides on the biota of phytoplankton, zooplankton, aquatic plants and animals that make of the ecosystem of Brackish Lake Obuchi. We also made numerical formulations of the dynamic structure of the water balance, lake currents, and physicochemical water quality environment. From a general analysis of the above, our aim was to construct a numerical model (radionuclides transition model) to predict the transitions and behavior of externally supplied radionuclides through the lake biota.
