Research overview:
Muscular dystrophy is a disease which develops progressive degradation of myofibrils. Duchenne and Becker types of this disease have a defect of dystrophin-gene. In our study, we have developed to detect dystrophin on two dimmensional electrophoresis and revealed this method to be useful for clinical diagnosis. Recently we could also find the new serine proteinase designated myonase from muscular dystrophic mouse skeletal muscle. Now, we are studying to reveal the function of myonase and its relation to muscular dystrophy.
