Research overview:
We have carried out the experiment on suppression of chromosome aberrations induced chemically in rat bone marrow cells some years. On the other hand, it was reported that coffee, black tea, green tea and their components such as caffeine, ellagic acid and tannic acid were found to possess anti-mutagenic activity and that caffeine was also found to have the action increasing carcinogenic or mutagenic activity. Therefore, we are examining by using the above in vivo system whether coffee, black tea, green tea and their components have or not the activity to suppress or enhance chromosome aberrations induced chemically.
