Generation of complex extreme conditions of high pressure, magnetic field and low temperature to search for new phenomena

Research overview:
Many insulators become metallic under pressure and some of them become superconductive at low temperature. Such interesting and essential natures appear in materials when exposed to the combination of high pressure, high magnetic field and low temperature. In this study the apparatus at the top level of the world are designed and manufactured, and by using them new phenomena such as the metallization of hydrogen are pursued and new materials with valuable function are developed.
