Research overview:
We are studying influence of the reversed burst of engine on the aerodynamic characteristics of the reusable rocket of vertical take-off and landing type, when it is decelerated for landing. Using visualization technique of sheet-form laser with smoke-intake, we have demonstrated that, on the reversed burst, an eddy formed in the interfering zone between jet stream from the engine and the main stream causes loss of the main stream pressure to the bottom plane of the air-frame, and thus the expected deceleration is not obtained. We are continuing experimental and numerical analytical studies for clarifying the streaming field more in detail.
