Research overview:
According to the groundwater monitoring, harmful chemicals in polluted groundwater which is observed on the upland seemed to be decomposed anaerobically after flowing into the lowland. It was assumed that viscous soil with high organic content distributed widely in the lowland contributes to decompose harmful chemicals through producing anaerobic conditions. In this study, the decomposition mechanism of contaminants by viscous soil with high organic matter content is investigated and the purification potential of the soil is evaluated.
