Research overview:
Tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha) stimulated cell transformation. The evidence suggests that TNF-alpha acts as a tumor promoter in human cancer development. Helicobacter pylori is classified into the definitive carcinogen for human stomach cancer. H. pylori infection is known to induce inflammation associated with induction of TNF-alpha. To investigate the significance of TNF-alpha in human carcinogenesis, we have studied carcinogenic activity of TNF-alpha inducing factors of H. pylori. We found TNF-alpha inducing protein (Tipalpha), a potent inducer of TNF-alpha, induced in vitro cell transformation, and study it's mechanisms of action.
