Research overview:
Based on sequence-tagged-sites in a region where genes of interest are localized, a PAC contig is constracted, subcloning is done, and base sequences are determined. Once disease loci are confined to a certain segment of the region by analysis of balanced chromosomal translocation on by linkage analysis, exon-like sequences are searched from the region, and cDNA and then genes for the diseases are isolated and analyzed.
