Development of new selection procedures using DNA markers in perennial ryegrass

Research overview:
Intergeneric hybridization with tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea) might be a useful breeding program of perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne) because of tall fescue having heat and cold tolerance. The DNA marker-assisted selection is carried out to develop a efficient selection procedure in Lolium-Festuca complex. We use some RFLP probes and PCR primers developed by Rice Genome Programs. Also we are developing gene mapping of perennial ryegrass using double haploid mapping family.
