Development of regional geomagnetic reference field model over Japan for the purpose of application to earthquake prediction

Study period:2002 - 2003
Research overview:
Electromagnetic methods are one of the strong means for understanding pre-earthquake related processes in the interior of the earth. It is necessary to establish the regional geomagnetic reference field model over Japan (JGRF) beforehand to watch tectonic activities by continuous geomagnetic observation. For this purpose we will collect and archive the observational data from various institutions and develop a new analytical method in close collaboration with the JGRF committee for earthquake prediction.
