Development of the method to study electric conductivity structure using control source in the bottom of sea

Research overview:
On generation of earthquake around the ocean trench, attention on the role of fluid within the earth crust is growing bigger, where the method to study such fluid distribution is required to be established. This study is to clarify the fluid distribution in the earth crust around the ocean trench, through achieving such three objectives, as (1) Operational experiment of the component to transmit artificial electric current, (2) Trial manufacture of voltage magnetometer used in the bottom of sea to receive artificial electric current and (3) Establishment of the method to study the distribution of electric conductivity in the earth crust and the fluid within the earth crust from electro-magnetic data available as basic study for conducting electromagnetic survey on the sea bottom using control source. Another plan is scheduled to conduct observation an oceanic test at Southern sea trough. Based on these studies, it is thought that technical foundation will be constructed for conducting electro-magnetic survey in the bottom of sea of control source, by debating resolution on S/N rate and the earth structure around the sea area studied.
