Application study of photovoltaic proteins of photosynthetic bacteria

Research overview:
Light-harvesting protein (LH) and reaction center (RC) of photosynthetic bacteria, R. Rubrum and R. Sphaeroides, form effective photon and electron transfer sysytems. The purification procedure are studied, and the thin film are made to apply to photosensitive thin films. The isolated and purified LH and RC are reconstituted to photo receptor unit (PRU). The pigment orientation are estimated by linear dichroism. Then, LB films of PRU are tried. The light energy transfer from LH to RC, and light induced electron transfer in RC are measured. The results are estimated as molecular device.
