Purpose of establishment：
Tne Center was founded in Midorigaoka Mura (present Tange, Migawa, Mito City), Higashi Ibaraki Gun as Ibaraki Prefectural Breeding Stock Station. Improvement project of milk cow was started.
Improvement project of draft and beef cattle was started.
Improvement project of swine was started.
Improvement project of poultry was started.
The center was moved to the present site (the site of the former National Tomobe Stud Sheep Station).
Ibaraki Prefectural Livestock Experiment Station
advances improvement of self-supply of feeds,
rationalization of breeding management, and technical
development of transplantation of fertilized egg or
so, for the purpose of establishing base for livestock
management strong enough to tackle international
competition and for the purpose of developing land use
type animal husbandry for milk cow and beef cattle.
