Purpose of establishment:
The Research Institute of Brain and Blood Vessels was
established in 1968. Its primary challenge was the
prefectural policy in the field of health and walfare:
to reduce and eliminate the Cerebrovascular Diseases
which have long been referred to as "Akita people
diseases". Since then, much progress has been made not
only in basic and clinical research, but also in
diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cerebrovascular
