Purpose of establishment:
Colleges of Technology accept qualified junior high
school graduates for a coherent 5-year educational
program. The mission of the colleges is to train
well-rounded engineers who are equipped with scientific
knowledge and technical skills.
Business overview:
In order to train skilled engineers who can put advanced
theories into practice, we put a lot of stress on
experiments and practical training. Our curriculum is
designed to closely combine the subjects of general
education and those of the specialized courses. Together
with tutorial-style education in the experiments and
graduation thesis work, we constantly try to improve the
contents and methods of our teaching. Since 1968, as a
part of their all-around education, all the first- and
second-year students have been required to live in the
dormitory, where they are expected to learn the spirit
of self-government and self-discipline.
As the only higher educational institution in the middle
and south of Wakayama Prefecture, WNCT plays a significant
role in the research and development of the local industries.
We also help enliven the communities by holding extension
courses, opening the library to the general public, and so on.
On the other hand, we have concluded an agreement to exchange
teachers and students with China’s Shanghai Dianji University.
Incorporated in 2004 into the newly-established Institute
of National Colleges of Technology, Japan, WNCT has been
preparing and performing its own education and research
programs based on the original goals and schedules.
