Purpose of establishment:
Major in Education: The objective is to train human
resources that can contribute to society by acquiring
basics and theory of the science of education through
practice. This course covers a wide area including
the science of education, lifelong education, social
studies, health and physical education and educational
psychology. The curriculums are structured by giving
priority to the students' acquisition of a teacher's
license in geography and history (high school), social
studies (junior high school), health and physical
education (junior and senior high schools). Besides
the school education, this course focuses on training
leaders who can teach lifelong studies and intra-
enterprise education and developing leaders of
lifelong sports who are familiar with the management
of various clubs and how to create organizations. The
titles of the students' graduation theses vary from
"the education of the mentally handicapped children"
to "volunteer activities", "refusal to attend school",
"stress from school" and so forth.
Major in Ethics: This course covers an important theme
of ethics, "How Man Should Live." The students
majoring in this course receive a wide range of
education in Orientalism, Occidental philosophy,
religions and aesthetics in addition to ethics. The
curriculums also include "Global Environmental Ethics",
"Information Ethics", and "Bioethics" that follows the
thinking death with dignity and other serious problems
confronted by today's society. Not only discussing
truth and ideals, this course also aims at training
individuals that work in the actual world and achieve
self-realization. From the 3rd year, the students are
given guidance on the preparation of their graduation
theses by the instructors in charge. They study in
depth by practicing their presentation and the
question and answer sessions to acquire the abilities
of expression and comprehension.
Major in Elementary Education: To foster leadership
needed for group living, curriculums are arranged by
placing priority on the "Seminar on Practice of Synthetic
Studies", "Teaching Methods" and other exercises
related to learning by experience. The students learn
efficiently about education not only by thinking but
through experience and practice. At the same time,
the course aims at enhancing the student's philosophy
as the educator. The four major courses : "Concert",
"Athletic Meeting", "Art Exhibition" and "Editing and
Issuance of the Educational Journal Grow-Up" in which
every student majoring in elementary education
participates, are planned and managed autonomously by
the students. Graduates from this course enjoy a high
rate of employment as teachers.
