Purpose of establishment:
The mission of our university is to foster engineers and
researchers who will be future leaders of society in the
field of technological science in both creative and
practical ways for the realization of enriched humanity,
symbiosis with nature, and an internationally cooperative
society. We place emphasis on our graduate programs,
promoting an education that will foster lucid of insight,
a fine and considerate sensitivity, adaptable
intelligence and a global perspective, Looking ahead to
further human development, we also conduct research with
the aim of developing new standards in the technological
science.
Business overview:
-To foster leading engineers with both practical and
creative skills, we offer an integrated form of higher
education that maintains the same number of students
all the way through from undergraduate to master's
degree programs.
-In order to provide a flexible response to the changing
needs of society, we carry out education and research
based on an interdisciplinary program system that
differs from conventional system which is based on
separate departments.
-In our interdisciplinary doctoral programs, we carry out
education and research work that responds to the needs
of industry and society, while pursuing advanced
science.
-We accept graduates from high schools (academic high
schools and technical high schools) into our 1st-year
classes and technical college graduates into our
3rd-year classes. Our selection of applicants is
largely based on recommendations. We also offer a
curriculum that takes into account the academic
background of each incoming student.
-The students small-group type of instruction that is
normally only available to graduate students is
applied throughout TUT. The ratio of students to
instructor is fairly small compared to other Japanese
colleges and universities.
-In addition to providing high-level, specialized
knowledge, we try to cultivate the Capabilities of
comprehensive judgment and management through
providing study in fields related to planning and
management science.
-By providing, close contact with society through the
experience of internship in industry, we intend to
nurture student's practical skills and to cultivate
those human qualities required for engineers who
become leaders in their field.
-We have the highest ratio of foreign instructors and
students of all Japanese universities and colleges,
and we promote active international exchange in both
and study areas in order to introduce global
technical and scientific trends.
-We are actively conducting many activities as an open
university. We promote a variety of exchanges with
outside institutions, collaborative research with
private enterprises and joint projects with local
communities. We also invite instructors from
industrial circles and provide a 'refresher course'
program for working members of society, with a
special screening system, provision for exceptional
curriculum requirements, various types of open
seminars, etc.
