Purpose of establishment：
Founded as Miyagi University of Education according to an act(Act 15,1965)which was a partial amendment of the National School Establishment Law. Elementary School Teachers' Course, Junior High School Teachers' Course, Course for Teachers of Blind Children, Division of Biology inaugurated. Attached Research Institute for Science Education inaugurated.
Division of Physics, Attached Research Institute for Science Education added.
Special Courses of Instruction in Mathematics and Science inaugurated. Elementary School, Junior High School and Kindergarten previously attached to Tohoku University transferred to Miyagi University of Education.
Attached School for Mentally Retarded Children(Elementary and Junior High School Divisions)inaugurated.
Faculty Meeting of Miyagi University of Education enacted.
As a center of learning, Miyagi University of
Education aims at nurturing promising educators and
contribution to the development of culture by inquiring
into the depth of arts and sciences and by giving rich
culture. The University conducts research and education
of deeply specialized arts and sciences, and develops
intelligence, moral and ability for application.
Miyagi University of Education was started as a
university of education in the new age in April,
2007 with three courses, that is, Elementary Education
Teacher Training Course, Secondary Education Teacher
Training Course,Special Needs Education Teacher Training
Elementary education teachers must have abilities for
appropriate instruction of a diverse group of students
in all subjects at different levels and ages of children.
Given these demands, Elementary Education Teacher Training
Course is designed to educate future teachers to impart
in them firm academic and practical backgrounds as well
as a rich personality through strictly selected groups
Secondary education teachers are required to have not only
the knowledge of a particular subject, but also the ability
to teach students, who are growing from childhood to adulthood,
Education Teacher Training Course is intended to educate
futuresecondary education teachers with a good balance of
firm special knowledge and practical skills by deepening
the specialty of the major as well as promoting frequent
visits between the university and educational fields.
In the Special Needs Education Teacher Training Courses,
under the four sub-courses such as “Visual Disorder Education
Course,”“Hearing and Language Disorder Education Course,”
“Development Disorder Education Course,”and“Health
and Dismotility Education Course,”we seek to educate teachers
who can directly face students with disabilities and tap the full
potential of the students while accommodating different individual
requests and needs appropriately.
