Purpose of establishment:
Under the foresight of two distinguished members of
the Keio University ; Yukichi Fukuzawa, the founder
of Keio University, and Shibasaburo Kitasato, the
first Dean of the School of Medicine, we are aimed at
bringing up students who develop the idea of
selfrespect, have merciful humanity, profound
intelligence, and comprehensive judging ability,
consequently contributing to the human welfare through
the medical science and the medical treatment, and
continuing to make researches for life.
Business overview:
The School of Medicine was established in 1920, since
then for 80 years more than 7000 students have
graduated and are obtaining a remarkable result in the
medical world not only in Japan but also around the
world. The endeavor to make basic medical field
collaborate with clinical science field has been
maintained since its founding, which is peculiar to
our School of Medicine. We are aiming to bring up
medical researchers who are given a credit from
patients and medical staffs and have human touch to
add to acquiring medical knowledge and techniques.
The University Hospital boasting of its modern plant
and equipment counts the largest number of outpatients
in Japan.
