Purpose of establishment：
Established as The Saga Prefecture Experimental Ceramics Center. No.1 Test Facility constructed in Arita machi.
No.2 Test Facility constructed in Babashita, Shiota machi.
Reorganization results in integration of Saga Prefecture Ceramic Guidance Office into main facility.
Saga Prefecture Experimental Ceramics Center newly constructed in Tanohira, Arita machi.
New Ceramics Research Room established.
Saga Ceramics Research Laboratory has the following
three fundamental ideas and aims at a technological
center which leads new technology development and
supports technology innovation and information
technology for the local ceramics industries.
1. Intensification of research and development
Research facilities are established and research
instruments are equipped to lead and support the
development of new technologies and products, and
intensifies research and development.
2. Intensification of cooperation with local ceramics
Promotion of technical guidance and joint research is
done and the equipments are opened to respond to the
needs of local ceramics industries. Further cooperation
with local ceramics industries is promoted.
3. Response to internationalization and innovations in
the information technology
International technical exchanges are promoted and
information service system is enriched to correspond
to the progress of internationalization and innovations
in the information technology.
This Laboratory carries out a wide range of activities
in three major directions. The first area is testing
and analysis service upon request and equipment
The Laboratory gives test, analysis, and measurement
service upon request about products and materials of
ceramics and fine ceramics.Also,some facilities in the
laboratory are available to companies for their own
use with charge.The second area is technical advice
and consulting.The laboratory gives technical advice
about the techniques of manufacturing ceramics and fine
ceramics.Also,it sends its personnel or special
advisors to production floors to give instruction and
guidance.The third area of the activities is research
and development.The laboratory conducts studies on new
technologies and commercialization of new products.
Furthermore,it conducts research works on technical
problems with which ceramics or fine ceramics
companies are confronted.It also gives long-term
technical guidance to the companies and conducts joint
research works. It should be noted that these services
above are available only to companies in Saga
