Purpose of establishment：
Tokyo Semmon Gakko(College) founded with the Departments of Political Science,Law English,and Physical Science.
Department of Literature opened.
Acquisition of university status and renamed Waseda University comprisingSchools of Political Science & Economics,Law,and Literature and semmon-bu (junior colleges).
School of Education opened.
School of Commerce opened.
Waseda University aims to uphold the independence of
learning, to promote the practical utilization of
knowledge, and to create good citizenship.
