Business overview:
JCOAL is committed to actively contributing on the international
front by effecting coordination among coal supplier and user
organizations, and so securing a stable supply of coal to Japan
and achieving an enhanced and stabilized energy supply and mand
structure that is in harmony with the environment of the Asia-
Pacific region. Objectives include:
(1) R&D in the area of technology to improve productivity
and safety in coal mines in the Asia-Pacific region
(2) International cooperation projects to promote the
development of coal mines in the Asia-Pacific region and
to disseminate technology to reduce the environmental
burden imposed by coal mining in the region
(3) Training of human resources engaged in the development
of coal resources, both in Japan and overseas
(4) Surveys and research related to the evaluation of
resources and the development of coal
(5) Collection and analysis of information to form a database
on coal resources and to make this available to others
(6) Interaction with coal-related organizations in Japan and
overseas, and publicity activities in the area of supply
and demand surveys and research and measures to ensure a
stable supply and demand of coal
