Purpose of establishment:
The purpose of research in the Graduate School of Letters is to study
humanities from various viewpoints.
Business overview:
The Graduate School of Letters was founded in 1953, on the basis of the
Faculty of Letters of Hiroshima University which had developed mainly
from the Hiroshima University of Literature and Science established in
1929 and was restructured as a part of Hiroshima University in 1949. In
2001, the school had the start of the shift in staff and administration
to the Graduate School of Letters and was reorganized to form a single
Major (humanities) with eight research fields. In 2008, the school was
reorganized again to form a single Major (humanities) with six research
fields.
