    The Museum of Osaka University was established.
Purpose of establishment:
The major subject of the Museum of Osaka University
is that a large archive of precious materials (in
excess of 1.6 million artifacts) is catalogued and
held by the museum, which allows access to the general
public for the purpose of carrying out research and
education. Our ultimate goal is to make the
collections accessible, informative and useful to
society in Japan and the world.
Business overview:
The three research groups in the Education and
Research Section are dedicated to research into the
collections and to supporting collaboration between
other departments and research centers. They will
cover the following areas: (a) investigation,
collection, classification, preservation, and
registration of the primary materials, (b) research
into new methods, (c) discovery of new historical
perspectives, (d) planning collaborative research,
(e) development of new pedagogy, (f) constructing a
database and developing a network system for the
exchange of information, (g) exhibition and
publication,and (h) local educational programs.
