【請求項1】棒状の鋼材を、この鋼材表面に1〜4MHzの超高周波が出力2〜15kWで供給できる誘導加熱手段に近接させ、鋼材および誘導加熱手段の少なくとも一方を移動させながら鋼材の表面を加熱し、加熱直後の鋼材表面を急冷する鋼材の熱処理方法であって、前記棒状の鋼材表面の急冷は、少なくとも前記鋼材の移動する方向とは直交する平面上において、鋼材表面に対し鋼材の周方向に傾斜した方向から冷却液を噴射することを特徴とする鋼材の熱処理方法。
