Geomagnetic survey in East Ongul Island

Study period:2010 - 2010
Research field (1): Solid earth planet physics
Research overview:
The 50th Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition (JARE-50) has carried out geomagnetic survey in East Ongul Island before the large containers and array of antennae, which is used for the program of MST/IS radar are installed in the southeastern part of main area of Syowa Station. Also JARE-52 is scheduled to carry out geomagnetic survey in the same region similarly after these facilities are installed. If we compare the results of survey of JARE-50 and JARE-52, it is possible to distinguish whether artificial magnetic disturbance which originates in these facilities influences the geomagnetic absolute observation.
