微生物遺伝資源 Genetic resources of microorganisms
Contact: SATO Toyozo
Resource classification: Bio resource (DNA, Cell culture, Protein, Bacteria, Virus, etc)
Overview:
Parasitical environmental microorganisms,
domestic animal microorganism, food microorganism,
etc. are stored as microorganism genetic resources.
The Microorganism Gene Bank is constituted of
sub-banks located at 14 places other than the
central bank in this institute.
The number of registered stocks is about 17
thousand as of the end of fiscal 1999, including
distributable 11 thousand stocks with the
breakdown of 6.5 thousand mold fungi and 3.8
thousand bacteria. Others are plant virus, yeast,
actinomyces, mycoplasma, animal virus, phage, and
protozoa.
A distribution unit is a freeze dried ampule for
bacterial, actinomyces, and yeast, and a slant
or ampule for mold fungi.
The "Microorganism genetic resources distribution
catalogue (Third Edition, 1998)" of above-mentioned
genetic resources is available on www contents of
the MAFF gene bank.
