Bylaws on handling of books and materials of Research
Institute for Social Welfare, Kumamoto Gakuen University
(Provisions)
Article 1
In these bylaws, books and materials refer to books,
magazines, newspapers, bulletins, microfiche, scraps and
other items specified by this Institute, which are
archived in Research Institute for Social Welfare,
Kumamoto Gakuen University.
Article 2
Procedures for acceptance of books and materials are
made by the Institute.
Article 3
Management of books and materials is made by the
Institute.
(Reading and lending)
Article 4
Those who can utilize the books and materials follow:
(1) Reading in the Institute
a. Teaching staff and research staff of the University
b. Students of the University (including students of
Graduate School, Special Course, Research students,
and Credit students)
c. Others allowed by the Director of the Institute
(2) Lending outside
a. Teaching staff and research staff of the University
b. Students of the University (including students of
Graduate School, Special Course, Research students,
and Credit students)
c. Others allowed by the Director of the Institute
Article 5
The following books and materials can not be lent.
(1) Valuable books (Materials, which are difficult to
obtain, such as reproduced editions, old books,
series books)
(2) Reference books (dictionaries, encyclopedias,
specialty dictionaries, handbooks, almanacs,
yearbooks, chronological tables, white papers and
alike)
(3) Books, which were transferred from the Library of
the University
(4) New issues of magazines and newspapers and bulletins
(5) Other materials, which the Director specified
The Director may allow a research staff to lend the
books and the materials.
Article 6
Those who are to lend the books and the materials shall
fill in the specified form for lending.
Article 7
For lending, number of the books and the materials and
duration follow:
(1) Teaching staff and research staff: 10 books or less,
two months or shorter
(2) Students approved under Article 4, (2), b: 2 books
or less, one week or shorter
(3) Others allowed by the Director of the Institute: 5
books or less, two weeks or shorter
Article 8
If prolonged lending is requested, renewal of
application for lending is required.
Article 9
If lending of more than specified number of books or
longer than specified duration is requested for the
purpose of special research, approval of the committee
is required.
Article 10
Even before termination of duration of lending, the
Director may order returning of the books and the
materials for the purpose of inspection, exposure or
alike.
Article 11
In a case of damage or loss of the books and the
materials, the lender must take responsibility for
repair or compensation.
(Removal of the books and the materials)
Article 12
The following books are removed from registration after
approval of the committee, and removal shall be recorded
on the list of removed books:
(1) Lost books: When longer than one year has elapsed
after loss.
(2) Damaged or dirtied books: When damage cannot be
repaired.
(3) Books, which lost their value due to change of time.
Additional Rules
1. These bylaws are enforced on and after July 1, 1999.
2. Bylaws on handling of books and materials of Research
Institute for Social Welfare, Kumamoto Gakuen
University, enforced on and after April 1, 1994, are
abolished upon enforcement of the present bylaws.
