The Suzuka Collection

This is the former collection of Mr. SUZUKA
Sanshichi,the Urabe Shinto priest (of Sakyo-Ward,
Kyoto). Most of the collection is related to
Shintoism, because the Suzuka Household were Shinto
priests from the Medieval Age, but it also includes
tales, essays and diaries. This collection consists
of 7,432 items of materials related to the Kokugaku
(The textual and interpretive study of Japanese
classical literature and ancient writings), in the
form of manuscripts, printed books from engraved
wood, reproduced books, typed books, scrolls and
boxed collections. They were purchased between
1977 and 1978. Some items were donated by the
Suzuka Household.
