Snow and Ice Disaster Prevention Experiment Facility

Owning Organization:
Contact: SAKURAI Hiromichi
Resource classification: Experience equipment, Facilities, etc
This Snow and Ice Disaster Prevention Experiment Facility
is the largest facility in the world capable of reproducing
various phenomena to occur in a snow and ice zone by an
experimental level. This is especially only one unique facility
equipped with a snow falling device by which snow with a
crystal form close to natural snow is fallen. It can produce
almost natural-like snow even in summer, and it enables us
to track changes of snow by artificially controlled
environment. Consequently, it eliminates necessity to wait
for occurring a natural phenomenon and makes us to perform
efficient research based on an arbitrary experimental plan.
