Slope gradation map

Owning Organization:
Resource classification: Global change (Meteorology, Space, Geology, Ocean, etc)
Research area  (1): Geography
In April, 1999, Digital Map 50 m Grid (Elevation)
of the whole nation (except the Northern
Territories and Takeshima Islands) was
accomplished and published. By using this, the
nation-wide slope gradation maps (maps
illustrating the magnitude of inclination
of the surface) were experimentally made. The
whiter the gentler the slope is, and the blacker
the steeper. Observing the slope gradation map,
topographic features reflecting geographical
structures such as existence of faults or
differences in rocks can be read. The map is
fun to see and academically useful.
