【請求項1】原料ガスにパルスレーザー光を照射して、原料ガス中の同一方向に向いた分子のみを振動あるいは電子励起させ、目的同位体または非目的同位体を含む分子回転周期に合わせてさらにパルスレーザー光を1パルスあるいは複数パルス照射し、目的同位体または非目的同位体を含む分子を優先的に光分解させてその同位体を分離する方法であって、レーザー光の通過する距離の差を調整して、パルスレーザー光照射の時間間隔を制御することを特徴とする、同位体の分離方法。
