【請求項1】眠気を催す対象者の骨格筋に覚醒刺激を付加して対象者を覚醒状態に維持する覚醒維持装置であって、 対象者の骨格筋に覚醒刺激を付加する覚醒刺激付加手段と、覚醒刺激付加手段により覚醒刺激が付加された対象者の骨格筋の活動状態を示すパラメータを取得するパラメータ取得手段と、パラメータ取得手段により取得されたパラメータに基づき、覚醒刺激付加手段により対象者の骨格筋に付加される覚醒刺激の強度を所定の強度に制御する刺激強度制御手段とを備えて構成されていることを特徴とする覚醒維持装置。
