  • temperature relation obtained at the frequency of 20 MHz, using air-drying silver paste electrodes, where the rate of temperature change was about 0.2C/min. The dielectric constant along c-axis is 8.3 at room temperature, and is almost constant until 150C on cooling. A thermal hysteresis is seen in the dielectric constant. Above the transition temperature, the Curie-Weiss law holds with the Curie constant of 111K on heating and of 71.4K on cooling. Some variation of the transition temperature was seen for each specimen. The spontaneous polarization as a function of temperature is shown in Fig. 2 which has been obtained from D-E hysteresis loop at 60 Hz. The coercive field derived from the hysteresis loop varied with temperature and is 6.8 kV/cm at 194C, for an applied field of 18 kV/cm.
  • These experimental results indicate that K2Se04 is ferroelectric along the c-axis (the crystallographic axes are chosen as c=6.00A) below about 180C transition point, and the ferroelectricity falls into the category as (NH4)2S04 and others2’ with their characteristic small dielectric constant at the transition
