【請求項1】 原子の電子スピンあるいは核スピンを利用した光ポンピング磁力計であって、
アルカリ金属原子群が内包されたセルと、
前記セルに、直線偏光成分を有するプローブ光を入射させるプローブ光光学系と、
前記プローブ光の偏光面の角度に変調を掛ける変調手段と、
前記セルを通過した前記プローブ光の偏光面の角度の変化を検出する検出器と、を備え、
前記検出器は、偏光分離素子と、該偏光分離素子で分離した成分同士の光強度の差を得るための差分回路と、を有し、
前記変調手段は、前記プローブ光の偏光面の角度に対して、前記偏光分離素子を全て通過する、あるいは前記偏光分離素子から全て反射される角度を中心として、相対的に64°乃至116°の角度を有する2つの偏光面の角度に交互に切り替える矩形波状の変調が可能であることを特徴とする光ポンピング磁力計。
