【請求項1】 希土類元素が添加されたコア部を有する利得ファイバと、 予め定められた幅を有するとともに前記利得ファイバの光軸方向に沿って予め定められた間隔で形成され、かつ前記コア部の前記光軸と直交する断面全体に形成されるとともに第1の屈折率を有する1または複数の高屈折率領域、および前記1または複数の高屈折率領域に隣接して形成されるとともに幅が前記予め定められた間隔であり、かつ前記第1の屈折率より低い第2の屈折率を有する1または複数の低屈折率領域を備えた屈折率周期構造体を含む反射鏡であって、 前記反射鏡の動作波長をλ、前記屈折率周期構造体のi番目の屈折率領域の幅をdi、屈折率をniとした場合に、diが下式で与えられる反射鏡。 di=Hi・(λ/(2・ni))+λ/(4・ni) ただし、Hiは次数を示し、iは自然数である。
