超好熱性古細菌の転写系(真核生物転写系の簡略版)を構造生物学とゲノム生物学の立場から解析します。蛋白質・核酸の立体構造の根底的理解をめざすとともに、耐熱性の異なる生体高分子の設計などを介してハイオインダストリーの礎となる事をめざします。また、ある生物をそのゲノム構成から解明するという立場から、21世紀ヘ向けての全く新しい生物学の構築をめざします。
