本研究は、7テスラ超高磁場MRIを用いたヒト大脳皮質層の活動を計測できる革新的なfMRI技術を研究開発し、ヒトの大脳皮質層間の神経回路機能の解明を通じて、ヒト脳の多階層な機能の解明を目指しています。また、ヒトの様々な精神活動とその異常を各階層の脳機能に結びつけて理解し、認知症やパーキンソン病などの神経変性疾患の病因解明および画期的な早期診断・治療・予防法の開発への展開が期待できます。
