Research overview:
休眠は低代謝状態になることで動物がエネルギー供給不足を切り抜ける生存戦略です。休眠中は通常では死に至るような低代謝状態となりますが、その低代謝適応能の原理を解明し応用することで、現在の医療では救命できない症例を減らせると考えています。冬眠は最も長期の休眠です。提案者は冬眠しないマウスを冬眠様状態に誘導することに成功しており、この冬眠モデルマウスを活用し、世界に先駆けて低代謝医療の実現を目指します。
